The D.L maker’s mark fits David Loebl, trading as Schindler & Co, a particularly nice name to have on a scent bottle. The London records show the firm registered there in 1904 and examples of its mark are specifically recorded on scent bottles and vase rims.

Antique 1910 David Loebl Silver Collared Ribbed Glass Scent Bottle – Schindler & Co, London

A wonderfully decorative antique scent or perfume bottle dating to 1910, with a beautifully rounded, deeply ribbed clear glass body and matching ribbed glass stopper.

The almost pumpkin or melon-shaped body is particularly appealing, with pronounced vertical ribs catching and reflecting the light beautifully. The design is repeated in miniature on the stopper, giving the bottle a very pleasing and cohesive appearance.

Around the neck is a solid silver collar hallmarked in London for 1910, carrying the maker’s mark D.L, attributed to David Loebl trading as Schindler & Co.

David Loebl operated Schindler & Co as a fancy goods importer and silver mounter in London, with premises at Aldermanbury Avenue. The firm's London mark was registered in the early 20th century and is known particularly on decorative silver-mounted objects including scent bottles and vase rims. These silver-mounted glass pieces were fashionable dressing-table accessories during the Edwardian and early George V period, combining decorative glass with the luxury of English hallmarked silver.

The bottle retains its matching ground glass stopper – an important feature, as original stoppers are frequently lost or damaged over the course of more than a century.

There is genuine age and character throughout. The silver collar shows wear, tarnishing and some distortion/irregularity around the upper rim, which can be clearly seen in the photographs. The glass displays light surface wear and some internal marking or clouding consistent with previous use and age. These details have been retained rather than over-restored and form part of the bottle's history.
