A charming and rather unusual piece of vintage kitchenalia, this traditional metal tea / coffee infuser or strainer offers a lovely glimpse into the days when loose-leaf tea was an everyday ritual.

Made from pressed and formed metal, the piece features a tall, tapered cylindrical lower section with finely punched perforations arranged in attractive circular patterns. Above sits a wider, flared section with a broad supporting rim and a hinged, stepped circular lid.

A particularly lovely detail is the small, fan-shaped thumbpiece beside the hinge, adding a decorative touch to an otherwise practical piece of household equipment.

The perforated construction suggests that it was designed for brewing or straining loose-leaf tea, allowing water to circulate through the lower chamber while retaining the leaves.
