Vintage Le Sucre des Vosges chicoree tin French Kitchenalia

This is a particularly attractive piece of French vintage kitchenalia. Interestingly, it appears to be part of a promotional kitchen storage range produced for La Vosgienne, the French confectionery company famous for its pine-sap sweets. Other examples are recorded with labels including coffee, sugar, flour and pasta.

Vintage French La Vosgienne Chicorée Storage Tin – Pine Forest Design – c.1930s–1950s

A charming vintage French kitchen storage tin, produced for **La Vosgienne**, the celebrated French confectionery company, and beautifully decorated with woodland imagery inspired by the Vosges Mountains.

Finished in a soft sage green, this rectangular metal tin features an atmospheric mountain landscape surrounded by tall pine trees, with decorative pine cones and branches framing the word **CHICORÉE** (chicory). Its removable lid is equally attractive, displaying the original *Sucre des Vosges* branding and illustrations.

The reverse carries the original French advertising text promoting the company's famous pine-sap sweets, making this an interesting example of early French promotional packaging.

Maker History

La Vosgienne traces its origins to 1924, when Wassily Bogomoloff and Elisa Legrand registered the *Sucre des Vosges à la Sève de Pin* confectionery trademark in Saint-Quentin, France.

The business formally became La Vosgienne in 1928 and established a reputation for its distinctive resin-flavoured sweets, inspired by the pine forests of the Vosges region.

The company became particularly well known for its pine-sap confectionery, traditionally associated with soothing the throat.

This tin belongs to a decorative kitchen storage range featuring the company's branding, combining everyday household practicality with effective early advertising.

Why We Love It

We particularly love the atmospheric Alpine woodland illustration, beautiful muted green colouring and wonderfully nostalgic French typography.

A lovely example of vintage European kitchenalia, equally appealing to collectors of advertising tins or anyone creating a French country-style kitchen. It would look wonderful displayed on an open kitchen shelf, alongside other vintage storage tins.

Condition

Good vintage condition for its age, displaying genuine signs of use, including surface scratches, rubbing to the decoration, areas of paint loss, particularly around the lid, and some age-related discolouration and tarnishing to the interior.

The original lid is present, and the decorative illustrations remain attractive and clearly recognisable.

These imperfections contribute to its authentic vintage character. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
