Vintage 1930s Hunting Dogs & Pheasant Sporting Tin

A wonderfully characterful vintage British lithographed tin, dating to approximately the 1930s and decorated with a traditional country sporting theme.

The hinged lid features a beautifully atmospheric scene of gun dogs amongst pheasants and other game birds, with sporting guns visible in the background. The decoration continues around the sides with country landscapes showing two sportsmen walking with their dogs across open countryside.

Made from lithographed tinplate, this small presentation tin was most likely originally produced for biscuits, chocolates, sweets or another confectionery assortment. No maker's mark is now visible, so we have deliberately left the manufacturer unattributed rather than speculate.

The combination of gun dogs, pheasants and shooting imagery gives the tin particularly good appeal for collectors of vintage tins, country-house accessories, sporting memorabilia and traditional British advertising.

Condition

A genuine vintage example showing plenty of age and use. There is rubbing, scratching, surface marking and areas of loss to the printed decoration, together with wear around the edges and corners. The interior and underside also show staining, scratching and general age-related wear. The hinged lid remains attached and the principal sporting scenes are still attractive and clearly visible.

The wear has been left largely untouched and gives the tin a lovely, authentic appearance rather than detracting from its decorative charm.
