A wonderfully characterful vintage Haws one pint indoor watering can, made in England and finished in the company’s traditional deep green.

This compact little watering can has the classic Haws form, with a cylindrical body, generous loop handle and elegant long curved 18cm spout, designed to direct a controlled stream of water precisely into plant pots. It is a particularly attractive piece of practical British horticultural design and remains just as useful for houseplants today as it is decorative.

A lovely feature is the original circular brass maker’s medallion to the top, decorated with the distinctive hawthorn motif and marked “HAWS – MADE IN ENGLAND”. The underside is also embossed HAWS, confirming the maker.

Haws was founded in England in 1886 by John Haws, whose patented watering-can design established a name that has become synonymous with quality British gardening equipment. The company's watering cans have retained many of their traditional design features for generations. This galvanised steel example is believed to date from the mid to late 20th century, most likely circa 1960s–1980s.

The can has clearly seen genuine use and has developed plenty of vintage character. There is rubbing, scratching and small areas of paint loss, particularly around the lower edge, together with age-related marks and some mineral/limescale deposits to the interior. The brass Haws badge has developed an attractive aged patina. Please study the photographs as these form an important part of the condition description.
