Vintage 1979 Morganite carbon motor brushes – boxed set of six – new old stock

A wonderfully evocative piece of British industrial history, this original Morganite cardboard box contains eight vintage carbon brush assemblies, complete with copper spring fittings.

The original box bears the Morganite name and the period slogan “The vital ‘link’ in industry”, together with handwritten production and reference details. The marking “WK 10 / 79” indicates production or packing during Week 10 of 1979.

Morganite was a major British manufacturer of carbon and graphite components for electrical engineering, with carbon brushes widely used in electric motors, generators and other rotating electrical machinery.

Each brush comprises a rectangular carbon/graphite block with a copper-coloured coiled spring assembly. One of the carbon blocks carries an impressed factory reference number. The brushes appear to have seen little or no use and are believed to be new old stock, although they are offered primarily as vintage industrial components and collectable engineering ephemera rather than guaranteed working replacement parts.

The original cardboard box has plenty of authentic age and workshop character, including wear, creasing, staining, old handwriting and losses around the edges. The surviving original Morganite label remains particularly attractive and gives the set excellent industrial display appeal.

A great piece for collectors of vintage engineering equipment, electrical memorabilia, workshop curiosities, industrial interiors or anyone looking for genuine late-1970s British factory stock.

Condition: Vintage new old stock. The components appear unused or minimally handled, with some age-related surface marks from storage. The original box is heavily worn and distressed, with creasing, staining and edge damage consistent with its age and industrial use.
