Vintage 1977 Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Brown Leather Purse

This is a consatina purse rather than an Edwardian pocket book, and the label looks very much like a 1977 Silver Jubilee commemorative sticker. Although I believe the sticker has nothing to do with the purse and has been added later? ( Adds to its life)

The key clues are the clearly visible “1977”, the large royal crown and the red/white patriotic design. The lower ribbon also appears to contain wording relating to British manufacture, although it is too rubbed for me to quote it confidently. Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee was celebrated in 1977, and museum collections do record purpose-made 1977 Silver Jubilee commemorative leather purses.

The multi-gusset construction ,feel look and construction all feel Edwardian or early 20 th century but that traditional purse style certainly continued into the 1970s.
