Vintage Delfinware Six-Bottle Milk Carrier with Original Pint Indicator

Vintage Delfinware Six-Bottle Milk Carrier with Original Pint Indicator – British Kitchenalia

A charming reminder of a time when fresh milk arrived on the doorstep each morning!

This vintage Delfinware milk bottle carrier is a wonderful piece of British household nostalgia, complete with its original-style adjustable pint indicator. Practical, quirky and full of character, it recalls the days when the milkman was a familiar sight in villages, towns and cities across Britain.

Made from sturdy white-coated metal wire, the carrier was designed to accommodate six traditional glass milk bottles. Its distinctive upright handle made carrying the bottles convenient, while the clever little indicator on the front allowed households to communicate their milk requirements.

The cream-coloured indicator is marked "DELFINWARE HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS" and features numbers from 0 to 6, with the word "PINTS" prominently displayed. The black pointer moves freely, allowing the required quantity to be selected.

A Little Maker History

Delfinware is an established British manufacturer of practical household products, with manufacturing history dating back to 1969. The company became known for its functional wireware, including kitchen storage racks, dish drainers, bottle carriers and other everyday household accessories.

This example is believed to date from the latter part of the 20th century, although its precise age has not been established.

Its traditional design and surviving milk-order indicator make it particularly appealing to collectors of British kitchenalia and social history.

Reclaimed, Reused and Loved Again

While originally intended for everyday milk deliveries, this delightful carrier offers plenty of opportunities for creative reuse.

Fill it with vintage glass milk bottles holding fresh or dried flowers, display a collection of old bottles, or simply enjoy it as an authentic piece of country kitchen decoration.

A lovely accessory for a farmhouse kitchen, vintage-inspired interior, utility room or nostalgic shop display.
